Salsa in Osaka
Here is a dance photo from salsa in Osaka. This was a heat in a dance sport competition but they wanted to give all the salsa lovers a chance to compete as well. The location was the lobby of a 50 story building near the port of Osaka. It was lot of fun.
Japan Dance Sport Federation -- A Short History
Japan Dance Sport Federation is an organization that represents Japan for the IDSF, the International Dance Sport Federation. JDSF cooperates with amateur dance sport associations in over 60 countries to hold international competitions such as the amateur world championships and the Asia/Pacific championships. Our activities focus on raising the level and profile of amateur dance sport throughout Japan and the world.
On February 7, 1999 the former Japan Amateur Dance Association, the Japan Amateur Dance Contest Association and the All Japan Student Dance Contest Federation were united and reorganized into the JDSF. In June 1999, JDSF joined the Japan Athletic Association as Dance Sport was approved as an official Olympic event by the International Olympic Committee.
